| -Have it Your Way..............10/5/2008- I don't know if it sold more burgers but it sure struck the heart of man. It appealed to our desires of the flesh. “I want what I want”. It started with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, if you notice Satan didn't want them to steal, or kill or commit adultery, he wanted them to be independent of God. In our world today we want to be independent of everyone but ourselves. “Our biggest problem is not the environment in which we have been raised, it is not the evil that has been done to us by others, it is not the limitations we feel so acutely. Our biggest problem is a heart that wants its own way in opposition to God's way.” We all seem to want to do our own thing. Be our own man or women. We want to “HAVE IT OUR WAY' Burger King was right they hit the nail on the head. Psalms =0 918:27 NIV You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. Psalms 25:9 NIV He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. Psalms 147:6 NIV The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. Psalms 149:4 NIV For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. Proverbs 3:34 NIV He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6 NIV But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:10 NIV Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. 1 Peter 3:8 NIV [Suffering for Doing Good] Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 1 Peter 5:5 NIV Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 1 Peter 5:6 NIV Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. When was the last time you said the word humble. Lord I humble myself before. IF there is a need for grace in an area of your life, look like we might need to be humble. When i say Humble do you think HAVE IT YOUR WAY. NO we have to believe and want to have things the Lords way. We see so much spoiling of children that grow into spoiled adults still having th oughts of things having to be our way. This is not a true statement. We have to humble ourselves and begin to think we want things the Lords way all the time. Believe it our not, things don't always turn out our way. The word humble seems to have left the Christian faith. We Don't hear about it and don't want to They kingdom come Thy will be done. It's a basic principle. You might not be getting work to go your way but the Lord reason for you being there might just be to bring salvation to someone right next to you. He knows you want to be promoted but can you do the work of the ministry where you are at. Is it always surrounded by things going your way. I have already said that “Our biggest problem is a heart that wants its own way in opposition to God's way.” We are back to the one governing part of our bodies that seem to run what we do on a everyday basis's our heart. It is the main area that enables us to change. Proverbs 4:23 JV Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. So do you have any issues flowing out of your heart?? Let be guess, you didn't get what you wanted. You think you are independent of the Lord and HE doesn't know what HE is doing? I'm not saying we can't defeat the enemy when he is prowling around seeking to devour. When you are struggling do a humble check. Give the trash to the Lord and clean out that heart and truly humble your self before God. Judges 17;6; Every man did that which was right in hi own eyes. Psalm 81:12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts lusts and they walked in their own counsels Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in thine eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil. Proverbs 12:15 The way of the fool is right in his own eyes. Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool. Isaiah 5:21 Woe unto then that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight. Philippians 2;21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christs. 2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves. Jude 16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts. Believe that the Lord has a plan and is working it out. Things don't always go our way. Have it your way, was not our Lords word for us. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Believe it or not, your situation doesn't surprise the Lord.. He knows the plan. Just remain humble in His hand. Talk to the Lord and He will help you. Don't let that heart “Have it your way”. It's not good for you. It's time we turn this ship around and decide to do things the Lords way. Humbly and earnestly seeking His plan and realizing things aren't always going to go our way. -Pastor Lois Falk-SERMON- |
